The Brazilian Journal of Case Reports (BJCR) maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism in all its forms, in line with international standards for research integrity. All manuscripts submitted to BJCR undergo a plagiarism screening process using Turnitin® software before the peer-review stage.

The purpose of this check is to ensure that the submitted work is original, properly cites all sources, and complies with ethical publishing practices.

Our policy includes:

  • Initial Screening: All submissions are checked for similarity using Turnitin®.

  • Acceptable Similarity Threshold: A similarity index of up to 15% is generally acceptable, provided that no single source exceeds 2% (excluding references, direct quotations, and methodological descriptions).

  • Action on High Similarity: Manuscripts with excessive or unjustified similarity will be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright.

  • Post-Publication Checks: If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted following COPE guidelines.

By submitting a manuscript to BJCR, authors acknowledge and agree to this plagiarism policy.
